Hubby started EECP on Monday

Hubby started his EECP Therapy(EECP stands for "Enhanced External Counter Pulsation") on Monday this week. He has to have 35 one hour treatments in all spanning 5 days a week for 7 weeks. Here is a website for more information if you are interested in what it is. http://www.eecp.com.pk/

He has done fairly well so far. Yesterday he had low blood pressure and pulse ( 80/40 and pulse in the 30's) so they kept him for a bit after the treatment. He said today the machine shut down a couple of times meaning something wasnt quite right with his heart rhythym but the nurse technican said not to worry about it. He dropped by my work this evening to rest a bit on his way home because he was in so much pain. He travels 175 miles a day to take this treatment. It makes for a pretty long day for him. I just pray that he gets some relief from his chronic unstable angina pain.

He took a video of his EECP session today and it sure looks like it would be painful. It mimics the look of someone getting shocked. All the jumping the machine causes you to do when it airs up. He said it was pretty crazy the first time he had it and when he didnt know what to expect. Now after three days he is an old pro at it......lol

He has to have an ultrasound of his carotid arteries in his neck next week due to a problem he had over the weekend. We were driving to Eastern Oklahoma to see our great niece when he started having double vision. He went to pull over to let me drive and nearly took out some signs and a utility pole. It was pretty scary but I screamed pole, pole, pole! at him and he veered to the left barely missing them. I drove him on to the nearest hospital and they did a CT scan to check for a stroke but they didnt find anything. It appeared to clear up on its own in about an hour. However a little later when we were speaking of the incident he couldnt remember most of it. That was pretty scary too. I made him call his cardiologist on Monday and we finally got a message from his nurse today saying they want him to have a carotid ultrasound to check for a blockage. Mom had this problem several years ago and had surgery to fix it. She hasnt had a problem since. Her symptoms were sorta similar to his but not completely the same. I guess we will find out next week if that is his problem. It just doesnt seem fair that this is happening to a man who is only 43 yrs old.
